VURVE SALON
Kilpauk, Chennai
Designed in 2017, VURVE Salon in Kilpauk, Chennai explores movement as an architectural language.
Spread across a long linear frontage, the salon is defined by a continuous plywood ceiling installation inspired by the fluid motion of wet hair after a comb passes through it. Beginning subtly at one end of the facade and intensifying through the interior, the installation creates rhythm, direction and spatial continuity across the 55-foot-long frontage.
The project combines exposed brick, warm timber finishes and restrained lighting to balance the expressive geometry of the ceiling with a grounded material palette.
Awarded the Indian Hairdressers Awards for the Best Designed Salon in South India, the project remains a key exploration of form-driven retail interiors within the studio’s body of work.
