THE PAUSE
Bilaspur, Haryana
Set within a large corner plot near Bilaspur, the farmhouse is conceived as a series of shaded volumes, courtyards and landscaped edges that unfold gradually through movement and light.
The architecture responds closely to climate and inhabitation. Deep overhangs, linear pergolas and transitional spaces mediate the harsh north Indian sun, while allowing the house to remain visually connected to its surrounding lawns and gardens.
Materiality is restrained and tactile – exposed brick, dark stone, muted plastered surfaces and warm wood tones establish a calm and grounded spatial language. Throughout the house, shifting shadows and framed views become active architectural elements, shaping the experience of the spaces over the course of the day.
Rather than imposing a singular gesture, the project seeks quietness, depth and continuity between built form, landscape and everyday life.
