THE HOUSE OF CONTINUITY
Kathmandu, Nepal
Originally acquired as an existing residence in Kathmandu, The House of Continuity emerged through a process of structural retrofitting, spatial reorganisation and complete interior transformation. Rather than replacing the building, the intervention sought to extend its life while adapting it to the evolving needs of a multi-generational family.
Located within a region of significant seismic activity, the project included strengthening the existing structure to improve its resilience and long-term performance. This technical foundation informed a broader architectural reimagining of the house, creating a contemporary home organised around light, openness and everyday comfort.
Designed for three generations living under one roof, the residence balances shared family spaces with private retreats. Warm timber surfaces, textured finishes and generous terraces establish a calm and enduring character, while large openings strengthen the relationship between the interiors and the surrounding landscape.
The result is a home that combines renewal with continuity-demonstrating how thoughtful transformation can prepare an existing structure for the future while preserving the memories and permanence associated with family life.
